The lake is called Lake Segara Anak, from the Sasak language more or less means the Small Sea. Simply describe the area of the lake. The water depth of the lake is estimated to be about 160m – 230m. In the middle of Segara Anak lake appears a new mountain called Mount Baru Jari. Mount Baru Jari is believed to increase in every year. The average rainfall in this region is 2.000ml / year with the altitude of 550mdpl – 3,726mdpl.
Mount Rinjani holds a number of mysteries. One of the greatest mysteries is Dewi Anjani. Dewi Anjani is said to be the direct descendant of Raja Selaparang resulting from the marriage of the King with a subtle creature who settled on Mount Rinjani when he begged rain for his area due to the long drought that swept through the Selaparang kingdom at that time. That is why Sasak and Hindu Dharma tribes in Lombok Island often perform the Mulang Pekelem ritual, which is a ritual of asking rain to Dewi Anjani by giving a goddess of gold plates forming all sorts of water creatures by drowning into Segara Anak lake.
